A lighthouse in Altamahaw since 1935
Altamahaw Baptist Church was organized on June 2, 1935, and has been a lighthouse to the surrounding community ever since. We are a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Association and the Southern Baptist Convention.

Our mission
To make followers of Christ
The church is to reach out to a lost and dying world with the good news of Jesus Christ.
We reach out into our community to share the love of Jesus Christ, and we preach and teach the infallible Word of God, the Bible.
We are a church with a vision, and we open our doors wide to all who seek to worship in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. If you need somewhere to call home, we would love for that to be Altamahaw.
“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.”Psalm 122:1
Our staff

Senior Pastor
Phil Harden
Pastor Phil answered the call to serve as Senior Pastor at Altamahaw Baptist Church in 2026. Originally from Mebane, NC, Phil has ministered to families across the Southeast in North Carolina, Florida, and Louisiana. He is a graduate of both Southeastern University and Liberty University.
He and his wife, Michaela, have two wonderful boys and the silliest wiener dog you’ve ever seen!
He has a deep love for helping believers live in obedience to the Word of God, which is naturally emphasized through his expositional teaching and preaching. This charge of faithful obedience is also expressed and encouraged through his daily shepherding of the flock.
